Principal's Welcome Message:
Welcome to Seng Kang Primary (SKPS) in 2010. Indeed a new year had begun.
It gives me great pleasure and honour to become the 3rd Principal of SKPS. Under the leadership of Mrs Lew, together with the dedicated staff, SKPS has certainly grown to be recognized as An Inviting School with a Community of Happy Learners.
It is my responsibility to then leverage on the strengths of the school and bring it to greater heights. The school’s new Vision, A Vibrant Community of World-Ready Learners highlights the school’s direction of developing pupils who possess the 21st Century skills. The vibrancy will be created by the quality interaction of the learner with his learning, environment, and community and even by optimizing the resources made available to him. By doing so, the school aims to develop pupils who embody the 4Cs; Critical Thinkers, Creative Thinkers, Confident Communicators and Concerned Citizens – skills that are fundamental for the future. At the same time, the school believes strongly in developing good character values in our pupils as soft skills are as important for our pupils to thrive in the present and in the future. The four school values, Respect, Resilience, Confidence and Integrity will provide the foundation and support as the school moves in the new direction to achieving its outcomes.
The school has devised a comprehensive Teaching and Learning Framework (OREO) and together with our Holistic Physical Education (HOPE) and 2CARE programmes, we aim to carve out new learning curves and provide for a range of experiences for pupils so that they are developed at their potential. The school is embarking on an extensive Whole School English Language Approach which will focus on Extended Reading, Writing and Speaking skills so that our staff and pupils are competent and confident users of the English Language. Our staff will continue to be aspiring learners themselves by engaging in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) so that as a school we all will grow as learners.
Certainly, with changes in the global scene we can look forward to more challenges and opportunities but I am confident that with my team of energetic, caring and dedicated teachers and with the continuous support of our parents and stakeholders, the school will create meaningful opportunities to expand our pupils’ experiences so that they are developed as thinking, discerning individuals who are also gracious and caring citizens.
New Vision, New Outlook and New Facilities – We can all certainly look forward to a great year ahead. I wish all of us joy, good health and peace of mind in 2010.
