Synopsis

Modern Dance

The objective of this CCA is to nurture pupils’ appreciation for the beauty and expressive potential of modern dance, while exposing them to a rich variety of dance genres and styles. Through movement exploration, choreography, and performance, pupils develop a keen sense of musicality, spatial awareness, and artistic expression. Dance provides a meaningful platform for pupils to communicate ideas and emotions, fostering creativity, confidence, and a deeper sensitivity to form, flow, and visual composition.

Dancers will undergo foundational training to build strong technique and versatility, and will have opportunities to participate in performances and competitions that showcase their artistry and growth. Regular participation ensures continuity in learning and enables pupils to refine their movements, enhance group synchronisation, and present polished, visually engaging performances.

The team’s accolades include Distinctions at the SYF Arts Presentation and Gold Awards at the Asia Arts Festival.

Malay Dance

The different Malay dance forms make up the multi-cultural mosaic that is Singapore. All pupils will go through an audition. Shortlisted pupils will be invited to join the CCA where they will explore the five basic Malay dance rhythms - Asli, Inang, Masri, Zapin, and Ronggeng (Joget) – while developing social awareness and relationship management. They will have a chance to represent the school in various competitions and performances such as Singapore Youth Festival.

Handbells Ensemble (Membership by school selection only)

Handbells Ensemble is a niche Performing Arts music instrumental CCA, which aims to provide pupils with the experience and exposure to regular performances. Pupils learn music theory and acquire a high level of discipline and resilience through the regular practices. There are fun-filled Games Day, an intensive camp, a Performing Arts concert. Pupils are selected through formal auditions
