Framework
The Seng Kang Primary School English Language Framework is anchored in the school’s vision, “Thinkers Today, Leaders Tomorrow,” which shapes the desired outcomes of our learners. Guided by the English Language department’s vision of developing confident and competent communicators in internationally acceptable English, the framework provides a coherent and purposeful approach to language teaching and learning.
At its core, the framework emphasises a strong foundation and joy of learning through the MOE STELLAR 2.0 curriculum. Students develop the four key language skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - alongside grammar and vocabulary, applied in meaningful and authentic contexts.
Encircling this core are key pedagogical approaches, including explicit instruction, inquiry through dialogue, contextualised learning, metacognition, spiral progression, and assessment for learning, which guide teaching and support deep, sustained learning.
Extending outwards, the framework is enriched by the school’s signature programmes and experiences that promote oracy, reading culture, creative expression, and student agency, providing platforms for students to apply language with purpose and confidence.
Together, these elements work cohesively to realise the school’s vision, nurturing SKLites to become thoughtful users of language today and effective leaders of tomorrow.
